Summary

In 25 concise steps, you will learn the basics of blockchain technology。 No mathematical formulas, program code, or computer science jargon are used。No previous knowledge in computer science, mathematics, programming, or cryptography is required。 Terminology is explained through pictures, analogies, and metaphors。

This book bridges the gap that exists between purely technical books about the blockchain and purely business-focused books。 It does so by explaining both the technical concepts that make up the blockchain and their role in business-relevant applications。

What You Will Learn:

• What the blockchain is
• Why it is needed and what problem it solves
• Why there is so much excitement about the blockchain and its potential
• Major components and their purpose
• How various components of the blockchain work and interact
• Limitations, why they exist, and what has been done to overcome them
• Major application scenarios

Who This Book Is For:

Everyone who wants to get a general idea of what blockchain technology is, how it works, and how it will potentially change the financial system as we know it。

I was looking for a good introduction to blockchain technology and found this book very useful。

Michael Uehlein

Simple to understand book on blockchain and distributed peer-to-peer networks。 Written in a college textbook way。 For a non-technical guy, this was easy to read。

BERNARD HILTON

An outstanding read for anyone wanting to know the basics about this exploding industry。

Claudio de Giovanni

Interesting but could be even simpler, given the title。

I can’t believe this happened to me because i just decide to give it try, I was reading about cryptocurrency because i am really interested in investing in cryptocurrency because from the books i’ve read…The digital currency is the future, I saw the bitcoins price and it is way too steep for me financially so i had to read some books about trading because that’s the only way to acquire bitcoins since it’s high。 I tried to trade on my own but didn’t go through then i began to look for a trader on I can’t believe this happened to me because i just decide to give it try, I was reading about cryptocurrency because i am really interested in investing in cryptocurrency because from the books i’ve read…The digital currency is the future, I saw the bitcoins price and it is way too steep for me financially so i had to read some books about trading because that’s the only way to acquire bitcoins since it’s high。 I tried to trade on my own but didn’t go through then i began to look for a trader online。 I got to a forum on youtube and i get to see everyone giving testimonies of how the Mr Barry Silbert helped them trade bitcoins in less than 3 days。 I read some reviews on youtube and i decided to continue doing my research, I got to a forum on disqus and other websites as well and i couldn’t get enough of the Mr Barry testimonies。 I am just seeing his emails everywhere and how he help families and more。 I decided to give it a try and had to go for his lowest package at first because i am nervous。 Then Mr Barry silbert help me trade 1。3223 btc in less than 4 days and i am ready to invest the whole 1。3223 btc with him again so i can get 6 BTC。 I just have to drop this here because i saw his info online and i am on my way to be financially free for the rest of my life。 I don’t want to be selfish…。 You all should contact  Mr barry below via email and he will get back to you in no time。 You will thank me later for this great info。 barrysilbert450@gmail。com。 or whatsapp him +447508298691 。。。more

The book is easy to read in order to understand the basics if you are a beginner in blockchain。

This was a very impressive and methodical approach to teaching blockchain to the novice。 The book goes from a rudimentary discussion of peer-to-peer systems through a user-friendly explication of how the blockchain works。 While I am no computer scientist and I do not purport to have understood every concept discussed herein intuitively, the author does an excellent job of analogizing each aspect of the blockchain to “real life”, before addressing the problem to be solved, the building blocks to This was a very impressive and methodical approach to teaching blockchain to the novice。 The book goes from a rudimentary discussion of peer-to-peer systems through a user-friendly explication of how the blockchain works。 While I am no computer scientist and I do not purport to have understood every concept discussed herein intuitively, the author does an excellent job of analogizing each aspect of the blockchain to “real life”, before addressing the problem to be solved, the building blocks to the solution, the solution itself, and how it fits into the next step — not unlike the blockchain itself。 。。。more

Good book with relatable non-tech analogies。 Makes for good first reading into blockchain, but would follow up with Truth Machine, The Age of Crypto or Blockchain Revolution

Vivek

Good primer on Blockchain technology。 Loved the metaphors used in every chapter。

Sudha

Appeared to start off ok, explaining concepts in an easy-to-understand way but in the end did not really throw too much light on the practical implementation of blockchain。 Too many grammatical and other errors。

Patrick Choi

Was pretty good, I like that it explained all the fundamental building blocks of the topic (no pun intended)。 It also had nice metaphors for you to imagine it better。 And by the end of each chapter you get a summary。It can get a bit boring by the end because it gets repetitive and it does not seem to evoke a lot of inspiration and interesting thoughts, but that might just be the topic itself。 Respect to the authors for making it easy to understand。

This is one of the most fulfilling books I ever read, it’s manifestation of explaining a complex idea or system is well done。 Although the topic is more computer related, the writer finds very comprehensive ways to get his ideas into the mind of the reader by giving day-today explanations。 I’m more into reading about cryptocurrency, and had in mind that if I read about the blockchain it would be only one book, and it couldn’t been a better book to purchase and read。 At first it’s a bit puzzling, This is one of the most fulfilling books I ever read, it’s manifestation of explaining a complex idea or system is well done。 Although the topic is more computer related, the writer finds very comprehensive ways to get his ideas into the mind of the reader by giving day-today explanations。 I’m more into reading about cryptocurrency, and had in mind that if I read about the blockchain it would be only one book, and it couldn’t been a better book to purchase and read。 At first it’s a bit puzzling, but with time the dots connect and you get a pretty clear idea of how blockchain works and why is its resistance is flawless。 。。。more

Good readingRequires low technological knowledge to capture the essence of it, yet a tech background helps。 I believe most of the c-levels should read it to avoid being buzz worded by sales people or “ tech gurus”

Easy to understand and throughout introduction to blockchain。 I love the use of metaphors to explain the concepts。

Aldwin Susantio

Good book for those who are new to blockchain。This book explain :(+)many concepts related to blockchain(+)Brief explanation of how blockchain work(+)Advantage and disadvantage of blockchain(+)Applications of blockchain(+)Challenges to implement blockchainThe explanation is easy to understand and using parable, so readers with no technical background can understand this book。 Overall, this book successfully satisfy my curiousity about blockchain。

Judy Sy

The book is easy to read and uses examples with everyday objects to illustrate the concepts。

Each industry that mainly acts as a middleman between producers and customers of immaterial or digital goods and services is vulnerable to being replaced by a peer to peer system。 The analogies used in the book to explain things or process related to blockchain is superb。 Asbolutely awesome book for anyone who wants to understand the technology and concept of blockchain。

Stephen Wellbow

This is the best general explanation of blockchain technology that I've encountered to date。Despite the sub-title, there is a good technical breakdown of the blockchain's operation (if not taken to the level of code)。 The author also describes the blockchain's purpose, component parts, drawbacks, areas of potential improvement, and use cases。 This is the best general explanation of blockchain technology that I've encountered to date。Despite the sub-title, there is a good technical breakdown of the blockchain's operation (if not taken to the level of code)。 The author also describes the blockchain's purpose, component parts, drawbacks, areas of potential improvement, and use cases。 。。。more

Blockchain Basics does exactly what it sets out to do。 It presents a non-technical introduction to blockchain technology in a way that is very easy to understand。 Its use of metaphors for each component of the blockchain data-structure makes it very understandable to the average reader。Beyond this, it also dives into the potential applications for blockchain technology, its limitations, and how these can eventually be overcome。 It also paints a very guided - yet optimistic - future with this tec Blockchain Basics does exactly what it sets out to do。 It presents a non-technical introduction to blockchain technology in a way that is very easy to understand。 Its use of metaphors for each component of the blockchain data-structure makes it very understandable to the average reader。Beyond this, it also dives into the potential applications for blockchain technology, its limitations, and how these can eventually be overcome。 It also paints a very guided - yet optimistic - future with this technology in mind。 。。。more

Here is a short review of the Blockchain book by Mr。 Drescher:In 25 logical steps Daniel builds up the understanding of a highly complex subject matter! Excellent bookReally an excellent choice for those who want to learn from scratch and get to the final page with the basics。 The use of metaphors to introduce concepts helped me in every chapter。I recommend it。

I skimmed this book as a non-technical refresher for blockchain and I was not disappointed。 It delivered what it set out to deliver。 (mind you: I read the Dutch edition)

Bob

Was generally helpful, but a very dry style and difficult to get through。 If not for the fact that I had a personal interest in understanding blockchain for possible future use I would not have finished the book。 I think for non-technical audience it needs to be written differently。

This is a good non-technical introduction to blockchains。 The focus is on what a blockchain is and how it works。 This book could use a good edit to remove the continuous repetition, but it still offers a relatively clean overview with clearly defined concepts organized into chapters and point-form summaries at the end of each chapter。

BuenoRecomendado para aquellos que queremos entender de 。mejor manera el blockchain sus usos, bases técnicas y posibles usos con sus ventajas y desventajas。

I feel like I understand the concepts, even if the details are entirely beyond me。 I'd probably need to read it again to be able to be a little bit conversant in blockchain technology though。 I feel like I understand the concepts, even if the details are entirely beyond me。 I'd probably need to read it again to be able to be a little bit conversant in blockchain technology though。 。。。more
